Reconstruction

The year was 1865 and it was near the end of the cival war. One of the last and major events during this time was Abraham Lincolns assassination. It was April 14 1865 on a friday night, Lincoln was attending a performance at ford's theatre. He had his wife and two friend acompany him. It was about 10:00 in the evening when Abraham Lincoln was shot. After shooting Lincoln John Wilkes Booth jumped from the balcony onto the stage. They proceeded to carry Lincoln to a home across the street. While the president was being cared for others were looking for booth, but booth had hurt himself so he went to a doctor for help. That evening they found John Wilkes Booth. The following day president Abraham Lincoln died in the home across from the theature.
The use of force can preserve a nation. During the civil war we preserved our nation through both military and political power. On the military side of it we had our war with the south so they would realize they were still part of our union. The war helped the people and politicians realize that there needed to be some changes to help our nation during that time. The political side of it is we had a president who wanted to free slaves. That allowed slaves to become free, citizens and have the right to vote. Then president Lincoln was replaced with Andrew which made the south feel a little more comforted coming back into the union because he wanted to forget the past and work on a good future. So the force of military can help by leading others in the right direction. But the political can help by smoothing all the bumps on the road out.
